Salom leads the championship by a significant 30 points with only the final two races to go and as Evo championship points are calculated on where each rider finishes inside the overall SBK classification, David is in a strong position. His personal best single race finish is eighth so far against the full SBK machines, in race two at Laguna Seca.
Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki) is third in the Evo points table and he will be out to consolidate that position in Qatar. Sheridan Morais (Iron Brain Kawasaki SBK Team) is placed sixth in the Evo rankings, three points and one place ahead of Alessandro Andreozzi (Kawasaki Team Pedercini).
Bryan Staring (Iron Brain Kawasaki SBK Team) will attempt to finish higher than his current tenth place in the championship after the final Qatar weekend.
There will be a second Australian rider this weekend on a Kawasaki Ninja, as Alex Cudlin will join Kawasaki Team Pedercini for a one-off ride in Qatar, substituting for the still injured Luca Scassa.
